HID Driver

If you are using very old signotec Sigma signature pads with Windows 8.1 or newer, it may happen that your pad switches off unintentionally. This is due to new power saving settings that are not supported by the old Sigma models. The driver remedies this.

You only need the driver if you are using very old signotec Sigma and Windows 8.1 or newer. The driver is not required for newer devices and older operating systems.

From Windows 8.1, Microsoft has revised the power management of the operating system regarding external devices. This change will result in some USB devices in standby (e.g. signotec signature pads) being disconnected from the power to save energy. The devices also do not reactivate.

This affects very old signotec Sigma models, too.

The HID driver disables this functionality for signotec signature pads, so that a continuous operation can be guaranteed. After installation, the connected devices no longer switch off unintentionally, but are available without interruption.

You only need the driver if you are using very old signotec Sigma and Windows 8.1 or newer. The driver is not required for newer devices and older operating systems.

Microsoft has also published the following knowledge base article:
Please see the following IDs for the signotec Pads:

WinUSB Driver

By default, some signotec signature pads are configured for operation via WinUSB. Without WinUSB drivers the devices work in slow HID mode.

By default, the signotec Signature Pads Gamma, Delta and Alpha come pre-configured for the use via the WinUSB port connected to a computer. There are two different operating modes when connected via USB: HID and WinUSB.

The WinUSB driver is required for the Alpha under Windows 7, 8 and 10, as well as for the Gamma and Delta under Windows 7. Under Windows 8 and 10, the Gamma and Delta are put in WinUSB mode automatically.

Without WinUSB driver, the devices work in the slower HID-mode.

The WinUSB driver is part of the signoPAD-API and signoSign/2.

FTDI Driver

The FTDI driver is required for signotec signature pads with integrated FTDI chip (USB serial converter).

Note: If the Internet connection is activated, the driver installs itself automatically via Windows Updates. On many thin client systems it is already pre-installed.

The driver is needed for the signotec Pads with an internal FTDI chip. Those signature tablets from signotec contain the "FT" in the part number like "ST-ME-105-FT100".

Windows Operating System (32- and 64-Bit):
  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8, 8.1
  • Windows 10
  • Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Windows Server 2012 R2
Linux Operating System:
  • Linux
  • Linux x86_64

The Drivers are WHQL Certified.

Citrix Virtual Channel Driver

The signotec Citrix Virtual Channel driver enables signotec signature pads to be connected to the Citrix environment via a virtual channel.

In Citrix environments, in addition to classic COM port mapping, there's a new, modern way to loop a local signature pad to the server.
This technology is easier to administrate and also offers significantly better performance than the vCOM connection.

Technical Process
The Virtual Channel driver is installed on the (thin) client.
After configuration, the signotec signature pads communicate via the set up virtual channel.
As soon as the Citrix session is started, the virtual channel is also initialized.
All data between signature pad and software is compressed and sent via this virtual channel.
This technology reduces traffic and reduces latencies by a multiple.

Virtual COM-Port Driver

The virtual COM port driver (VCOM) allows you to create a virtual COM port for your signotec signature pad. This enables communication via a virtual serial port, e.g. in terminal server and Citrix environments.

With the Virtual Comport Driver you can create a virtual COM-Port for your signotec Signature Pad equipped with the connection method USB-HID, so that the device can be addressed via the serial interface.

We recommend this method, when the device shall be used in a Windows terminal server or Citrix environment, similar to the signature pads with FTDI and the FTDI driver.

The driver is a demo version which expires after 60 days automatically and needs to be replaced by a fee-based, licensed version for further use.

Windows Operating System (32- and 64-Bit):
  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 10

There's also a driver for linux operating system available.

signotec Pen Display Driver

To use the signotec Pen Displays, various drivers are required to manage and use the pen input. For devices with DisplayLink technology, the corresponding driver is also required.

Note: this driver is only for signotec pen displays (monitor extensions). There is a separate WinTab driver for the signotec signature pads. A simultaneous installation of both drivers can lead to errors in the application!

Pen Display, Wintab and DisplayLink Drivers
The signotec Pen displays aren't signature pads in the traditional sense. They doesn't offer a SDK like the real signature pads. But they are coming with a standard Wintab-driver or an optional Low-Level-SDK. Furthermore they work as a monitor extension with DisplayLink® technology and a high precision pen input. The Epsilon and Delta Touch are coming with 10-Point Multi-Touch.

signotec Pen Display Manager
The signotec Pen Display Manager is a software for configuration of the pen input. It also includes the WinTab driver.

DisplayLink Treiber
The signotec pen displays with USB connection use the standardized "DisplayLink" technology. The driver is normally automatically installed by Windows. If not, the driver can be downloaded from the manufacturer's site.

WinTab Driver

Most signotec signature pads can also be used via the WinTab interface. The advantage of the interface is that you can use the pads in many existing applications that support "Wintab compatible" devices.

Note: This driver is only for the signotec signature pads. For the signotec pen displays (monitor extensions) there is the "Pen Display Manager", which includes its own WinTab driver. A simultaneous installation of both drivers can lead to errors in the application!

The advantage of this interface is, that you can use the signotec Pads in many existing applications, which support “WinTab compatible” devices.

The range of functions is severely limited and the interface offers no security against manipulation or the spying out of the signature.

For the high-quality integration, please use our signoPAD-API.

This API supports the signotec signature pads Sigma, Omega and Gamma. The Delta Pen-Display is supported with a WinTab driver too, but comes with a different version.

TWAIN and WIA Driver

The signotec TWAIN and WIA driver allows you to use komaptible signotec signature pads via the scanner interface. The advantage is that the signature pad behaves like a standard scanner.

Use the Pen-Pad like a scanner! There is no need to change the application you are scanning today. The Twain- or Wia-interface allows a Pen-Pad to be connected like a normal scanner. No modifications at all are required for the scan applications.

Compatible signature pads:
  • signotec Sigma Lite
  • signotec Sigma
  • signotec Omega
  • signotec Gamma
Both USB and FTDI (VCOM) devices are supported.

The following settings changes are possible:
  • Change the resolution from the image: 100, 200 or 300 dpi.
  • Rotation from the image.
  • Line width from the signature image.
  • Position of the buttons on the signature pad.
  • Fixed size of the signature image or croped image.
